Okay, I’m going to sound like your least favorite school marm, but this is something I think is important.  How does one care for fine fabrics?

Last week I met with April, one of my supplier partners based in Los Angeles.  April is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fine fabrics.  She is quick to point out what colors work together, not just from a visual perspective, but how they perform next to each other.  One of her mantras – NEVER combine red and white in one garment; after one wash you get a pink garment!

The fabrics used in Vivacity Sportswear apparel is machine washable.  But as with any fine apparel, there are some guidelines in the care of the garments that will help keep them in top condition for a very long time.

  • Machine wash WITH LIKE FABRICS!  This means, no towels or jeans or other rough fabrics that could rub against a Vivacity top or bottom.  This rule goes for all types of nylon, rayon, lycra, organic cottons, etc.
  • Wash with like colors.
  • Line dry.  Sorry, I know that the dryer makes life so much easier, but it’s amazing what damage can be done to fabric with continuous cycles through the dryer.  Not only that, but from an eco- friendly standpoint, do you know how much energy a drying cycle takes?
  • Light Iron if required.  Not a hot setting please.  Although if past experience dictates, I’ve been able to hang my Vivacity top after it’s been rolled up in a suitcase and it looks great in a short time!  (Yes, I hate to iron.)

By following these simple rules, you will get good use of your Vivacity or other fine apparel for a very long time!
